Free, private transcription that runs entirely in your browser. No sign-up, no uploads, no limits.

Kipo turns speech into text on your own device. Drop in a recording, a voice note or a video, and the words appear line by line, with timestamps you can export as text or subtitles.

Private, because nothing leaves your device

Most transcription tools upload your audio to a server. Kipo doesn’t have one to upload to. OpenAI’s open-source Whisper model runs inside your browser tab, on your graphics card when it can and your processor when it can’t. Once the model has loaded, you can turn off Wi-Fi and it keeps working.

Free, because it costs little to run

Your device does the heavy lifting, so there are no servers full of graphics cards to pay for. That’s why there’s no paid tier, no account and no cap on minutes. Read the promise.

What’s in 1.0

Transcription of audio and video files of any length, or straight from your microphone

Fast and Accurate models, chosen for your device

Edit any line, then export TXT, SRT subtitles or Markdown

Meeting notes in Chrome on a computer, also written on your device

History, kept only in this browser

Thank you for trying it. If something doesn’t work, say hello.
